Intensive and critical care nursing within the nursing profession is a specialty in its own right and with its own nature. Critical care nursing is a key component of nursing with a focus on patient complete care. This practice poses its own demands for medical expertise. Intensive and vital care is based on patients with severe illness and their significant others. Patients are cared for comprehensively, constantly monitored and artificially sustained for their vital functions.
