Clinical nurse specialists (CNS) are advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) who serve as experts in evidence-based nursing practice in one of several specialized areas. We will apply their advanced knowledge of disease processes in clinical disease evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment, but their main role is to reach beyond patient care. The primary goal of clinical nurse specialists is to provide safe, qualified and cost-effective specialty care while working from within to improve the health care system.
